  1. I had hoped that no president of a CCCU school would sign this statement. That there has been only one I will take as an encouraging sign that presidents of CCCU institutions recognize the simplistic, uninformed hermeneutic used by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood that undergirded the statement regarding human sexuality and roles of women and men. Also, I hope that CCCU presidents recognize how hurtful this statement is for LGBTQ faculty, staff and students. Fortunately I teach at a Christian college which has chosen to be only a collaborative partner with the CCCU rather than a full governing member precisely because the CCCU itself now requires strict adherence to only one view of marriage for an institution to be a full governing member.
