5 “Must-Read” Books on Anti-Semitism in America

FordThese recommendations come from Brandeis University’s Jonathan Sarna, one of the foremost authorities on American Judaism.  (Back in 2012, I reviewed Sarna’s excellent book When General Grant Expelled the Jews).

Antisemitism in America
By Leonard Dinnerstein

And the Dead Shall Rise: The Murder of Mary Phagan and the Lynching of Leo Frank
By Steve Oney

Henry Ford and the Jews: The Mass Production of Hate
By Neil Baldwin

The Chosen: The Hidden History of Admission and Exclusion at Harvard, Yale, and Princeton
By Jerome Karabel

The Temple Bombing
By Melissa Fay Greene

Read Sarna’s annotations on these titles at the Brandeis University website.

  1. And the Dead Shall Rise: The Murder of Mary Phagan and the Lynching of Leo Frank

According to Conspiracy Theories and Secret Societies for Dummies, this was enmeshed in the origin of the Second Klan. Including the introduction of The Burning Cross (atop Stone Mountain in Atlanta) by “The Knights of Mary Phagan”. (The whole thing has the vibe of the Klan’s obsession with “Protecting WHITE Womanhood”.)

Henry Ford and the Jews: The Mass Production of Hate

Ah, yes, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Traced back to an Okhrana disinformation black op to divert unrest against the Tsar onto the Jews.
And it succeeded and then some.

Source of this quote is a bit dubious (The Big Book of Hoaxes), but…
“More people have died because of this hoax than any other hoax in history.”
