We have done several posts on the death of John Allen Chau, the missionary killed by the indigenous inhabitants of North Sentinel Island off the coast of India. It seems like we learn more and more every day about this tragic event. Religion News Service reporter https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js“>Jack Jenkins shared some new and relevant information on Twitter today:
1. NEW via contributing @RNS reporter Siddhant Mohan Varanasi: Appears some restrictions on visiting the island where missionary John Allen Chau was reported killed WERE, in fact, relaxed this year.
But Chau’s visa was for an educator, not a missionary. https://t.co/tfYnIXpGBo pic.twitter.com/p4JFkvzdmp

2. All Nations previously admittedly Chau didn’t get missionary visas because they’re “hard to come by.”
Also worth noting authorities have basically abandoned trying to retrieve his body. Earlier reports suggested he was buried on or near the beach, but that seems unlikely. pic.twitter.com/k9o8nLLeiT
