  1. To think that the President of the most powerful nation, perhaps in all history, can’t bring himself to call out these kind of ruthless leaders for what they are. Can’t or won’t.
I watched Lou Dobbs of Fox one night extolling Trump’s courage for meeting Kim of North Korea. COURAGE? For the man with the power of the US Presidency to meet a two bit despot of an economic wasteland/gulag.
We have Trump and his complete incompetence and dishonesty and meanness and self absorption and his blind and deluded followers, and we have the official Trump state media entity in Fox News.
    What a mess.

    • Jeff,
I did not see Lou Dobbs make this statement so I am not aware of the context of the remark. Based on your report, however, do you think the courage part has done something to do with political risk-taking? After all, if young Kim double crosses Trump or humiliates him on the transaction, it will appear to the entire world that Trump got snookered. If that was Dobbs’ point, it isn’t unreasonable.

        • Well, Jeff, if Trump calls it a triumph and it clearly isn’t, I don’t think it will look good. The whole world is watching this thing and the events on the ultimate Korean Peninsula will be hard to camouflage. The South Koreans, Japanese, and others have too much invested in it.

I can’t comment on how Lou Dobbs will react if Trump ends up being tricked by young Kim, but I would expect Hannity to denounce Kim rather than gloss over a failure of President Trump.

Jeff, I realize you do mot like Trump but at least he is trying to foment something go stabilize the Korean Peninsula. Other presidents of both parties have essentially punted on this problem.

        • And the Court Christians will chorus “AAAAAAAA-MENNNNNN!!!!!! Who is like unto The Trump?”

There’s no other way to describe it; to these guys in November 2016 the Second Coming of Christ came in the form of Donald Epiphanies.

When the subject reached Internet Monk a year or two ago, Chaplain Mike (the current sysop) described Donald Trump as “not an evil man, but a small man. Too small for the office he holds.”

Back in the Seventies, there was a pop psychology called “Transactional Analysis” which made a lot more sense than the usual pop psych fads. It’s most well-known book, the best-seller I’m OK, You’re OK had a companion volume titled Games People Play which coined the term “Mind Game” and/or “Head Game”.

One of these Games People Play was “Tough Guy”, where a small or weak man hangs out with/fanboys REAL Tough Guys (from Navy SEALs to street gangbangers) to show “ME TOUGH! SEE? SEE? SEE?” (The usual type example is a street kid fanboying hardened criminal types. Another is the rash of preachers pretending to have been Navy SEALS.) And I think that is a big part of the dynamic — a small man fanboying REAL Tough Guys to prove to himself How Tough I Am.

and we have the official Trump state media entity in Fox News.

Don’t forget pulpit after pulpit, backed up by “GAWD SAITH!” Wondering Eagle & I have been scratching our heads over how it is the BABBECs (Born-Again, Bible-Believing Evangelical Christians) are among the most fanatical (and vocal) of Trump Fanatics. (Like Taking the Mark in bad Christian Apocalyptic fiction.)

Our current working hypothesis is Trump Tower Corporate Culture is a lot like the autocratic Megachurch/Parachurch culture that comes under scrutiny on various Spiritual Abuse whistleblower blogs, and Trump acts like an autocratic Megachurch Anointed Lead Pastor (only more so). So to Mega/Giga/Para congregations that have been groomed by their Mega/Giga/Parachurch cultures, He Must Be More Anointed.

  2. This tweet from Senator Bob Menendez best describes their gleeful interaction:
“That feeling when you own the President of the United States and can do whatever you want.”
