Washington’s Hair

A lock was found in a 1793 almanac at Union College in Schenectedy, New York:

Every time I hear about a lock of hair in an envelope I think of historian Jill Lepore‘s essay “Historians Who Love Too Much.”  Also another layer of the Alexander Hamilton story is at play here.
