Here is the recent Gallup poll.
The most religious states:
- Mississippi
- Alabama
- Utah
- South Dakota
- South Carolina
The least religious states:
- Vermont
- Maine
- Massachusetts
- Rhode Island
- Nevada
Notes:
- What happened to New England? In the period that I study that region was pretty religious. 🙂
- Can anyone explain why South Dakota is so religious?
- Is there a correlation between legalized gambling and Nevada’s irreligiosity?
- There is a definite correlation between religious states and GOP hotbeds.
I’ve always assumed GOP hotbeds were “more Christian” because I rarely see a hyper-liberal Christian. It seems customary to me that I see hyper-conservative Christians. I’m not sure why that is, but I’ve noticed it too.
