Keith Beutler, author of the forthcoming George Washington’s Hair: How Early Americans Remembered the Founders (University of Virginia Press), is crowdsourcing (I think that is the appropriate word) the book’s Afterword. The title of the Afterword is “Relics Into Artifacts: The Continuing Career of Washington’s Hair and the Roots of American Culture Today.” You can read it an offer comments here.
This looks like it will be a very interesting book. Several years ago I heard Beutler present a paper on the way people in the early republic remembered the religious faith of the founding fathers and found his work to be very informative and helpful as I wrote Was America Founded as a Christian Nation: A Historical Introduction.
