Glory Days: A Bruce Springsteen Symposium

I hope that some of you got a chance to watch the Boss open up the Grammys last night with his first public performance of “We Take Care of Our Own.”  (There was a video of the performance up on You Tube last night, but it has since been taken down due to copyright violations, but someone did tape the performance off of his/her TV set.  You an watch it here).  It was good to see Bruce and the band back on stage. There will be a lot more to come in 2012.

One of the Springsteen-related events scheduled for this year is another “Springsteen Symposium” at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ.  (I included a link to this event in last night’s “Sunday Night Odds and Ends“).  The call for papers has been released and the conference, which will meet from September 14-16, will feature panels, tours, and performances related to Springsteen’s life and career.

I did not attend the two earlier Springsteen symposiums, but I am seriously considering attending this one.  I may even think about submitting a proposal.  Stay tuned.
