Pat Robertson and Haiti: Providential History At Its Absolute Worst

Pat Robertson apparently has a pipeline to God. He knows with certainty how God is working and has worked in human history.

We can debate whether or not these Christian America advocates are right when they claim that United States was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, but we must also remember that many of them are providential historians of the worst kind.

As Paul Harvey has reminded me over at Religion in American History, Peter Marshall blamed Katrina on homosexuals.

Robertson said that yesterday’s earthquake in Haiti was God’s punishment on the country for making a pact with the devil during the Hatian revolution against France in 1791.

These providentialists all need to read 1 Corinthians 13:12–“Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

In case you have not seen it yet…
